Evangelism Commission
of the Diocese of Central Florida

Focus for 2007:

In 2007 the Evangelism Commission is focusing on a practical approach that equips individuals to share the good news of Jesus Christ with their families, friends and neighbors.  The Commission is promoting awareness of the “Share Jesus without Fear” program throughout the Diocese and encouraging members of each parish to receive training. The Commission members are participating first-hand as a group in this program.

In this three-step approach for sharing ones’ faith each participant learns how to share:

  1. Five questions that help determine where God is at work
  2. Seven verses of Scripture that allow the Bible speak
  3. Five questions that help lead to the point of decision

The Word of God brings the conviction and the Holy Spirit does the convincing.  Participants get the privilege of being part of the process by faithfully responding to the opportunities that God gives each of us to share our faith.

The “Share Jesus without Fear” program stresses that success in witnessing is:

  1. Living out our Christian life
  2. Sharing the gospel
  3. Trusting God for the results

Success is not measured by bringing someone to Christ.

All of the work of evangelism is empowered by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. It is God's work from beginning to end; however God cannot use our silence.

For more information about how to get involved, email George and Cathy Romot at gcromot@ph3.us.

Selected Evangelism Resources:

Alpha - alphausa.org
Alpha is a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity centered around a meal, a talk (on video) and small-group discussion. Original 10-week campus-based course uses the book, Questions of Life, by Nicky Gumbel, a priest on the staff of Trinity Brompton Church in London. Alpha is hugely successful worldwide, in multiple languages, and in multiple denominations. There are also courses for youth, college students, workplace, marriage preparation, etc.

Crown Financial Ministries - crown.org
Crown Financial Ministries is an interdenominational ministry that provides churches with a comprehensive program to train people of all ages to handle money from a biblical perspective.  Adults may choose to be trained through a seminar, Sunday school series, one-on-one budget counseling, or in a life-changing small-group study.

Dare 2 Share dare2share.org

The Dare 2 Share book is designed to be a field guide for teens sharing their faith. The book helps the individual discover: how to identify their style of sharing Jesus, how to defend their faith without offending their friends, how to share the gospel message in a clear and compassionate way, and how to share one’s own personal story of coming to believe in Jesus. It also has some helpful hints, conversation starters, and key passages to use in sharing the gospel with people who hold other belief systems.

40 Days of Purpose - purposedriven.com
40 Days of Purpose is based on the best-selling Purpose-Driven Life book by Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. God’s five purposes—Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry and Mission—are learned in an intensive 6-week event designed to not only include the entire congregation, but bring in the unchurched in the community, as well. A pioneer program in the use of excellent online training and resources, this course stresses the importance of a continuing involvement in small group ministry.

Share Jesus without Fear - sharejesuswithoutfear.com
Share Jesus without Fear is written by evangelist William Fay and is published by Life Way Press. Participants learn the true meaning of success in witnessing, and that fear can be overcome by following three simple steps in sharing their faith. Participants also find their own faith deepened and strengthened as they learn to share the hope and love they find in Jesus Christ.

3Story® - yfc.org/threestory
3Story® from Youth for Christ/USA is based on living and understanding three stories--God’s story, your story and my story. It’s an everyday person’s guide to living that doesn’t separate discipleship and evangelism. Young people between the ages of 15 – 21 are given the skills to practice and live 3Story® in their lives in a way that is natural, friendly, and freeing.

Life Together - lifetogether.com
LifeTogether, originally designed to provide follow-up small group ministry after 40 Days of Purpose, uses the five-purpose themes of Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry and Mission in an expanded format. Developed by Brett Eastman and endorsed by Rick Warren, these excellent DVD teaching and worship resources are easy for lay leaders to use, and specifically geared to continuous small group ministry in homes. Featured speakers include Brett Eastman, John Ortberg, Anne Ortlund, Bruce Wilkinson and many others.
