At the Organization meeting of the Convention of the Diocese, held on Monday, May 18, 1970, the following Mission Statement was approved and reflected in Article III of the Constitution: The objects and purposes of this Diocese shall be: . . . To be a religious organization for the propagation and dissemination of the Gospel of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and to create joy and health through Christ by the love of human beings one for another. The Mission Statement contained in Article III of the Constitution was amended at the Special Convention held on October 29, 1970 as follows: The Diocese of Central Florida acknowledges itself to be called and sent to exercise the ministry of Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit, celebrating and proclaiming the mystery of redemption to the praise of God's glory, the benefit of His Church and the salvation of the world. This latter wording continues to be reflected in the current Constitution of the Diocese.
